These playful stone black cats will keep you company, while holding your books firmly in place!
Hand-carved in Agra, home of the Taj Mahal, by skilled artisans of Tara Projects. Palewa soapstone is well-known as a carving soapstone. Palewa soapstone is also durable and heat-resistant.
It takes many steps to create these beautiful pieces of art. First, the soapstone is carved into small blocks by workers using an electric cutting machine. These blocks are further refined to approximate the shape of the desired end product. Then, the stone carving artisan of Agra painstakingly makes the intricately carved bookends. Very basic tools are used to carve the designs. Bookends are among the many smaller items for the home created by the artisans.
We enjoy finding and providing to our customers, fair-traded goods like these made by talented artisans worldwide. This allows the artisans to be paid fairly for their talents and efforts.
